Bazm-e-Shayari: The story so far..

In the journey of life...we come across many phases...both good and bad...the times which leave an imprint, both on our intellect and psyche.. They are such times that come live as the innermost thoughts in form of poetry.. As thoughts that are close to every heart... Such is the concept of intellectual literature...

Bazm-e-shayari is one such show, which weaves the intricacies of literature and life with the thread of music and connects it to our heart... This is one of the reasons that the show is really close to my heart...

Today, i'm going to share with you my journey of bazm-e-shayari....the story so far...

It all started in the April of 2011...the first show that i got as an RJ at RMR 107.8.. The show consisted of 'mushaira'.. poetical recitation by various poets..interspersed with my introductions about the poet and poetry.. The show; though rich in literature...didn't seem to touch the hearts... there seemed to be a lack of connection with the listeners...it wasn't satisfying for me as an RJ..

I added a flavour of music into it to connect the poetry with the music.. The early music was mainly urdu gazals...But there was still much scope for change and improvement..

I reflected back on the show for sometime and tried to incorporate, poetry with daily life and feelings experienced by all of us in life at some point or the other.. I started talking on a particular theme in each show...enriching my conversation with shayari and poetry.. As inputs came coming from the listeners...they started giving me a feel of their experiences...some of which i shared in the show..Many listeners provided me with some beautiful and valuable lines..A one way show...started becoming interactive..

Gazals finally gave way to soulful music covering various genres.. contemporary pop,  alternative rock,  indian classical and bollywood music...giving the show a fresh new look..for both new and old generations..The music still had subtle overtones of the litrary classicism of urdu poetry in order to retain the originality...

This was the story of change in the show...I continue to bring about mild changes so that the show looks newer and fresher each time we do it...

My listeners have been an asset and support all the way through my journey...I wish to continue it in the same earnest..

Spring in the air!

Its early spring. A time of silent and subtle transition from old to new.. A time where the winter's harshness slowly gives way to the soothing sunny breeze. A time for rejoice.

Zindagi me haaru mein kab tak,

Tanha bhatku unki galiyon me mein kab tak,

Kya karu mein in sawaalon ka, thaame thamte nahi hein,

Karu unka intezaar aakhir mein kab tak...

Zindagi ek behte paani ki tarah hai...jo raste mein aane waale har patthar ko apne aap mein samet leti hai...Kuch bhi ek sa nahi rehta..na din ,na raat, na khushiyaan, na gham...Lekin kuch pal aise hote hein jinme hamaari zindagi ruk si jaati hai,,,kisi ke intezaar mein, kisi cheez ki talaash mein...jo shayad hamaare kabil nahi..ya hum uske kaabil nahi...lekin? aakhir hum kab tak ruke rahein us ke liye...Aakhir kab tak...

Kya aapki zindagi mein tha kuch aisa..jisne aapke waqt ko rok diya...bataayiye mujhe...apne dil ki baat...is hafte Bazm-e-shayari mein..

Barish mein bitaaya ek pal wo bhi tha, jab hum tum pehli baar mile they

Tab na toh shikwe na koi gile they

Magar aaj waqt ki tanhaayio mein jaana ke wahaan to nazdeekiyo mein bhi faasle they

Aaj dil puchta hai khud se hi ek sawaal

Kyu ham mile they?

                                                              

A moment spent in the rain,

When both of us met first,

There were no questions,

No complaints…

But today,

I found out,

In the solitude of time,

That there was distance in that closeness…

Why did I meet you?

                                                         

November rain

When I look into your eyes
I can see a love restrained

Guzarta hua waqt...14-Jan-2012 - Bazm-e-shayari

Ye waqt, ye lamha yu hi guzar jayega...

Reth ki tarah in haatho se phisal jayega...

Jee sako to jee lo is waqt, is zindagi ko...

Kal kya pataa kon kahaa jayega.

(Reh jayengi to bas guzre waqt ki baatein....

Waqt wo cheez hai jo kisi ke roke nahi rukta... kisi ke thaame nahi thamta...ye toh bas phisal jaata hai, haath se sukhi reth ki tarah.. Lekin is guzare hue waqt ki kai baatein yaad aa jati hein...is waqt mein...

Baat karenge guzre hue waqt ki...kuch aapki zindagi ki, kuch apni zindagi ki... Bazm-e-shayari mein.)

All that would remain are the memories of the past...

We are in a never ending race with time...you can't stop it...you can't hold it...it just slips away...like sand from the closed fist..All that remains is its reflection faded in memories of the past...

Let us recall those memories...the beautiful memories of past...in your life...in my life..

AAP KI AAWAZ EK KOSHISH: The show is hosted by RJ Manisha and co- hosted by me.It is based on problems faced by common people in Faridabad and Delhi-NCR. You can listen to the show on weekdays at 9:00 to 11:00 AM.

EVENING FLAVOR: It is an evening drive time show, where we talk about everyday topics of general interest and is interspersed with informations, traffic updates and bollywood updates... I also take on callers and song request.. The show usually plays latest and popular bollywood songs and two retro songs over a span of two hours. The show is informative, filled with both knowledge and entertainment. You can listen to it on weekdays at 7:00 to 9:00 PM.

BAZM-E-SHAYARI: It is a weekend evening show based on human emotions. It includes urdu shayari and songs. Listen to it every weekend from 8:00 to 9:00 PM.

We meet many strangers each day.. at the bus stops, at railway stations.. each with a different destination.. noone knows who would be your partner in the journey..but still.. even if the destinations are different.. there are some people who walk with us in this journey of life.. at least for some time...

(Har roz..hamein kitne ajnabee milte hein.. Kuch bus stops par..kuch railway stations par.. har kisi ki apni alag manzil hoti hai..kis ko kahaan jaana hai, kisi ko nahi malum...phir bhi kuch der ke liye hi sahi...hamare kuch humsafar ban jaate hein..jo hamein hamesha yaad rehte hein... baat karenge.. inhi ajnabee humsafar ki..aaj shaam bazme shayari mein)
